The Full Story

When I was 11 years old I tragically and suddenly lost my dad to a heart attack. As you can imagine, I wept deeply that night, but the next morning I turned off the spigot and went on with life. That is, until the funeral when my aunt arrived and, upon seeing me, bent down and simply gave me a hug. The spigot opened back up. We all need someone like my aunt in our lives, someone who feels safe so we can unpack and release the stuff that’s weighing us down.

I hope I can be that kind of person for you. My clinical experience has meant working with people wrestling with depression, anxiety, life change, relationship challenges, and sexual issues. Before that I gained over a decade of experience walking alongside people dealing with the hard things of life. I love working with couples, but I also work with families and individuals. I utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy and Attachment Based Family Therapy mainly, but also Solutions Focused Therapy and mindfulness techniques as appropriate. As a licensed MFTA and an ordained minister I provide an integrated faith perspective to therapy, but respect and meet with people from all kinds of backgrounds and perspectives.

Besides all that I’ve been married since 2006 and I’m a proud father of an 8 year old son and 9 month old daughter. I enjoy reading science fiction, playing classical piano, tromping around in the woods in my backyard, and playing video games.
