Don is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate. He established a private practice in 2025, involving psychotherapy with older teenagers, adults, and couples. He supports those suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, (complex) post-traumatic stress, grief and loss, and all forms of addiction. Don has experience in couples counseling, addressing parenting challenges, financial difficulties, communication skills, and trust/betrayal incidents. With his background in law enforcement and corrections, Don also attracts clients from the essential services, military, and first responder communities.
Don’s existential approach to counseling is person-centered, humanistic, and collaborative. He joins clients in this work with curiosity, empathy, patience, and kindness. His therapeutic methods are solution-focused and strength-based, helping clients identify solutions that work within their systems. This approach supports fidelity and sustainability. Don integrates several therapeutic theories and techniques, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, to help clients achieve their counseling goals.
Don is licensed in the State of Washington. He holds a Master of Arts in Counseling degree from Saint Martin’s University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice Studies from Saint Cloud State University. Don is trained to practice Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and is a Nationally Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors.
